Scope of ReCoDID

ReCoDID is a research cooperation between partners in Europe, Africa and the Americas. We aim to tackle the increasing importance of Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) by strengthening collaboration and outbreak preparedness, following a threefold approach: Firstly, we develop a governing system for data that adheres to PEARL requirements and facilitates easy data sharing at the same time. Secondly, we develop the means and techniques for homologization of already existing data from differing backgrounds. Thirdly, we provide the technological capacity necessary for storing and analyzing vast datasets, including Genomics-, Proteomics- and other high-resolution data. We hope to not only promote local investigators and strengthen the global EID research community, but also to pave the way for personalized medicine in infectious diseases.

ReCoDID is a 4-year € 6 million, 800K CAD Research and Innovation Action funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Programme (grant agreement No 825746) under the call SC1-BHC-05-20 (“International flagship collaboration with Canada for human data storage, integration and sharing to enable personalised medicine approaches”) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Institute of Genetics (grant agreement No 01886-000).
