Ecraid and VAC4EU collaborate to strengthen vaccine research and monitoring of risk and benefits
Ecraid joins hands with international vaccine study network to explore new opportunities for advancing vaccine research and development.
Ecraid and VAC4EU have announced a collaborative partnership to advance vaccine research and monitor population effects, with the goal of enhancing clinical research responsiveness during outbreaks. Driven by a shared mission to develop a more coordinated and effective response to emerging outbreaks, the partnership is aimed at strengthening and building on the existing synergies between both organisations in clinical research and generation of real-world evidence.
VAC4EU (or Vaccine monitoring Collaboration for Europe) is a not-for profit international association with 28 member organisations and one aspirant member, specialising in the collaborative generation of real-world evidence on coverage, safety, and efficacy of vaccines in Europe. It was established as a result of the IMI-ADVANCE project with the aim to enable, coordinate and accelerate the creation of the best evidence at European level on vaccine effects.
A more resilient, responsive healthcare system
Like Ecraid, one of VAC4EU’s key objectives is to develop and implement a European clinical research framework capable of responding rapidly and reliably to infectious diseases outbreaks. As part of their mutual agreement, the organisations are aiming to launch a pilot study to assess the feasibility of leveraging Ecraid’s ongoing observational studies. This will include evaluating benefit-risk profiles, population-level outcomes, and the real-world effectiveness of various vaccines.
Ecraid CEO Marc Bonten said, “This partnership represents our shared commitment to increase our understanding of how vaccines perform in the real world.”
“By working together, we can increase our abilities to combat and control infectious diseases outbreaks before they escalate into global crises and build a more resilient and responsive healthcare system.”
About VAC4EU

VAC4EU is a multi-stakeholder not-for profit international association with a study network to run post-licensure vaccine studies and an open community for scientific debate in Europe. Its overall mission is to enable, coordinate and accelerate the generation of best actionable evidence and expertise on vaccine coverage, benefits and risks. VAC4EU (Vaccine monitoring Collaboration for Europe) is the sustainability solution of the IMI funded ADVANCE project which ended March 2019. Read more…
